TopÂic: A (half) marathon not a sprint: PreparÂing to conÂduct mulÂti-sesÂsion memÂoÂry studÂies online
Abstract: MemÂoÂry researchers often want to assess how new inforÂmaÂtion is conÂsolÂiÂdatÂed or forÂgotÂten over proÂlonged periÂods of time. RunÂning mulÂti-sesÂsion studÂies online requires sigÂnifÂiÂcant investÂment from parÂticÂiÂpants and researchers alike, and can be a costÂly endeavÂour if things go wrong. This talk will proÂvide tips for assessÂing and mainÂtainÂing data qualÂiÂty durÂing learnÂing and retrieval tasks. We will conÂsidÂer the adminÂisÂtraÂtive load of runÂning mulÂti-sesÂsion studÂies, and ways to ease the stress of trackÂing eliÂgiÂble parÂticÂiÂpants. While online studÂies can be an extraÂorÂdiÂnarÂiÂly rapid form of data colÂlecÂtion, approÂpriÂate pacÂing durÂing mulÂti-sesÂsion experÂiÂments is imporÂtant for both minÂimisÂing data loss and mainÂtainÂing sanity.
